Beech is wonderful as a hedging plant as its leaves turn beautiful russet browns and are retained throughout the winter, making it not only attractive to look at but also a great habitat for wildlife.
Common throughout the British Isles, Beech tends to prefer chalk and limestone soils but can also be found on clay & loam. If you have very damp soil, choose Hornbeam instead. Beech mast is food for birds such as the Chaffinch and Brambling and for mice and voles. It is also a larval food plant for some moths.
Bare-root plants available at 40-60 cm or 60-90 cm size.
PLEASE NOTE: Minimum order for Hedge Plants is 30 plants. (This could be 10 each of 3 different species.) If ordering in addition to a Hedgerow Collection, then any number can be ordered. Plants despatched late November to March.
